In the village of Chereshovo near Ruse, on the day after Babinden, Grandfather's Day (Dyadovden) is celebrated. The holiday has been celebrated since 1957 on the idea of two residents of the village - Damyan Hadzhiyski and Milcho Stefanov, so that the grandfathers would not feel wronged.
"Grandfather of the Village" is chosen, as he must be a long-term resident of Chereshovo, have grandchildren, be a good, responsive person, who brings together the men in the village. The chosen one is taken in a donkey cart to the village fountain, where the ritual of "bathing" the grandfather for health is performed and from there he is taken to the square, where he is greeted with bread and salt and folklore dances.
