More than 4.2 million people or 71.5% of Bulgarians define themselves as Christians, according to the data of the National Statistical Institute.
Of these, 4 million are Eastern Orthodox Christians, nearly 70,000 are Protestants, about 39,000 are Catholics, and 5,000 are of the Armenian Apostolic faith.
