Most Bulgarians happy with EU membership

60% of Bulgarians strongly support Bulgaria's membership in the EU, according to a poll by Alpha Research before the European elections.
As Bulgaria has failed to rise to the standards of the core EU countries, scepticism about the way the Union is run and its specific policies is growing. This was stated by 39% of respondents.
Bulgarians are most satisfied with their right to appeal to the Court of Human Rights (84%) and with the possibility of working in the EU (81%). Enlargement of the Schengen area is supported by 53%. Support through EU funds is viewed positively by 51% of respondents.
Bulgarians are sceptical about the "green transition", with only 34% supporting it. 45% are opposed to EU support for Ukraine. More than 80% are not satisfied with the reception of migrants. The extension of the European Commission's powers at the expense of national governments is a matter of concern for 77% of respondents.
The representative, self-funded survey was conducted by Alpha Research between 1-7 March.
