Just 10% of Bulgarians insure their properties

Bulgaria is among the countries with the highest shares of own property in Europe, but has the lowest share of insured homes, Nikolay Stanchev, chairman of the Management Board of the Association of Bulgarian Insurers, told BNT. According to him, despite the citizens' mistrust of this type of insurance, in more than 90% of the cases, compensation is paid. The main reason for denials of compensation is that the appropriate risks had not been covered.
