Priceless church relics found in private homes during special police operation

More than 500 church relics were seized during a specialized operation of the General Directorate Combating Organized Crime, conducted on the territory of the region of Gabrovo. According to experts, there are priceless finds among the discovered Holy relics, Holy Gospel, bishop's staffs, icons, liturgical items, church utensils.

The relics, as well as paintings, coins and weapons, were found during an anti-trafficking operation as three properties and a car were searched.

A 50-year-old man was detained for up to 72 hours. He was charged with illegal activity related to unregistered artefacts. Work on the case continues.
