The National Assembly rejected the proposal of ITN for easing the conditions for holding referendums with changes to the Citizens' Direct Participation in Central Government and Local Self-government Act. 81 MPs voted "for", 30 were against, and 80 abstained.
ITN proposed to reduce the threshold for the number of signatures to trigger a referendum, to increase the period for collecting signatures - for a national referendum up to 6 months, for a local one - 5, as well as the threshold for validity to depend on the voter turnout in the previous elections.
