Bulgarian students win gold and silver medals at the International Olympiad in Informatics

Bulgarian students won two gold and two silver medals at the International Olympiad in Informatics. The 37th edition of the Olympiad, which was held in Bolivia from July 27 to August 3, was attended by 330 competitors from 86 countries. Veselin Markovic entered the top 10 in the world, the Natural Sciences Olympic Teams Association announced (NSOTA).
“This year’s success is the best Bulgarian performance in the history of the International Olympiad in Informatics. In the unofficial team ranking, Bulgaria is 4th in the world, ahead of the USA and Japan,” the association says.
The gold medals went to 12th grade students Veselin Markovic from Varna and Alexander Gatev from Sofia. The silver medals went to Andrey Stefanov in 10th grade and Boris Mihov in 12th grade from Sofia.
