The production of the first Stryker armored combat vehicles for Bulgaria has already begun in the US and is on schedule. This was announced to the Bulgarian Army newspaper by the Chief of Staff of the Land Forces, Brigadier General Stoyan Shopov.
183 Stryker vehicles and 15 auxiliary vehicles have been ordered in 2023. The contract is for over 1.376 billion dollars, which are paid in installments. The first payment was made a year ago under a contract for ammunition. The first vehicles should arrive at the end of September. The final assembly of the vehicles will take place at the Bulgarian plants “TEREM – Ivaylo” in Veliko Tarnovo, says Brigadier General Shopov.
Under the contract with the US, there is an opportunity for technology transfer and organizing the production of 30-millimeter ammunition on the territory of Bulgaria in the future, the publication says.
