On the occasion of International Lighthouse Day, the oldest lighthouse in Bulgaria, which is located in Shabla, opened its doors for visitors. The Municipality of Shabla announced that today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. is the last opportunity for tourists to visit the lighthouse this year.
The oldest lighthouse on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast is 32 meters high and rises at the easternmost point of Bulgaria. It is painted in white and red and has been guiding sailors in the Black Sea for more than a century and a half. According to historians, a lighthouse existed in this place even in the Roman era.
