18-year-old Alexander Vasilev, who reached the semifinals at Wimbledon, eliminated the fourth-seeded Ivan Gakhov (Russia) in the qualifying rounds of the ATP Challenger 75 tournament in Sofia. The match between the two lasted 95 minutes. Alexander Vasilev achieved a straight-sets victory (6:3, 6:3). Tenis.bg reminds that Ivan Gakhov is a two-time Challenger Tour champion.
Vasilev and Gakhov met for the first time today. The Bulgarian managed to make five breaks of serve. In the next round, Vasilev could face Ivan Ivanov, if the Wimbledon champion defeats Alex Molčan.
