NSI: In the second quarter of the year most of Bulgarians travelled only in the country

In the second quarter of 2025, the tourist activity of Bulgarians showed a growth of 4.1% compared to the same period in 2024, reaching 1.3 million citizens who travelled, data of the National Statistical Institute show. 67.5% of Bulgarians choose exclusively domestic travel, 25.8% travel only abroad, while 6.7% combine domestic trips and trips abroad.

The most active in travel are Bulgarians aged 25-44 (457.5 thousand people, 36.3%). Bulgarians prefer self-organized trips, NSI data also show as 83.3% of trips were made without the help of a tour operator.
