Second monkeypox case this year reported in Sofia

The Sofia Regional Health Inspectorate has reported the country's second case of monkeypox this year, registered last week.The infected person is 37 years old, has been quarantined at home and is in good condition, with a mild course of the disease. The first case of a person infected with the virus this year was confirmed in June. The disease is mainly transmitted by close contact and presents with fever, headache and a rash on the body, reports BNR reporter Elena Beykova.
The Ministry of Health informs that the disease is mainly found in countries of Central and West Africa, but since 2022 cases of the disease have been reported in countries where it is not typical.
