Bulgaria awaits decision on full Schengen membership

Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov will attend today's regular meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs Council in Brussels. The first item on the agenda of the meeting of EU interior ministers is the accession of Bulgaria and Romania to the Schengen Area for land borders.

Controls at internal air and sea borders with Bulgaria and Romania were lifted on 31 March 2024.
