The festival also includes a diverse folklore programme. “The lyutenitsa festival in Logodazh has already made a name for itself as one of the most colourful locals events, combining culinary tradition and the authentic Bulgarian spirit,” the organizers say.

The traditional Bulgarian lyutenitsa is a kind of relish, typically made out of roast red peppers and tomatoes, to which some other vegetables are added such as aubergine, carrots and onions. The mixture is blended, garlic and salt are added and it is boiled or fried in cooking oil until the desired density is attained.
