Georgi and Maria are the most common names in Bulgaria in 2024

The most common names in Bulgaria in 2024 were Georgi (140,818) and Maria (100,651). They are followed by Ivan and Ivanka, and then - Dimitar and Elena, according to NSI data.

Among newborns last year, the most popular name for girls was Victoria (538 newborns), and for boys - Georgi (782 newborns). In second place were Maria and Alexander, and in third - Sofia and Martin.

The most numerous were the people with names of flowers that celebrate their name day on Palm Sunday (Tsvetnitsa in Bulgarian, the day of flowers)  - nearly 340 thousand.
