Two curators of the Natural History Museum in Plovdiv started their journey to Antarctica as part of the 33rd Bulgarian Antarctic expedition. The purpose of the trip of Kristiyan Vladov and Stefan Kyurkchiev is to enrich the museum's collections, as well as future research on the unique adaptation mechanisms of Antarctic organisms in controlled conditions.
The Natural History Museum hopes to present to the residents of Plovdiv and guests of the city the renovated ice aquarium with new additions from the biodiversity of the Southern Ocean.
The museum is the only one in this country that has an ice aquarium and the species that visitors can see are delivered by participants in the expeditions to the icy continent, BNR correspondent Kremena Daneva reports from Plovdiv.
