The Museum of History in Pravets is presenting more than 150 state gifts from the time of totalitarianism in Yambol. The exhibition “Gifts – an act of diplomacy and interstate relations” presents items from the 1970s and 1980s, gifted to former head of state communist leader Todor Zhivkov after visits by government delegations to Bulgaria and visits abroad, the Bulgarian news agency BTA reports. The exhibits include a painting, gifted to Todor Zhivkov, of Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman cosmonaut from Soviet times, as well as a camel saddle, a present from Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, a Samurai helmet from the Japanese imperial family, a scale model of the Taj Mahal from Indira Gandhi etc. The exhibition will be on at the Bezisten cultural information centre in Yambol until 18 May.
