The mayor of Tutrakan, Dimitar Stefanov, and the mayor of the Romanian town of Oltenitsa, Mihăiță Beștea, have signed documents urging the two municipalities to work together to launch a ferry line across the Danube. The first services are expected to start in May.
The line will benefit both agricultural producers and fishermen, as well as tourism and cultural ties. A contractor for the ferry line has already been selected and the estimated price for the crossing is 5 euros.
