Ministry of Transport plans to launch concession procedure for Plovdiv Airport

A concession award procedure for Plovdiv Airport is planned, Deputy Premier and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadjov said at a meeting with aviation industry representatives. Minister Karadjov emphasized that he supports the idea that the aviation business should take over the management of Plovdiv Airport and invest in its development not only as a civil airport but also as a cargo hub.

Analyses will be conducted about the concession procedure, with relevant conclusions and recommendations, Grozdan Karadjov said.  He stressed that airports in Bulgaria should be concessioned out, following the European model, rather than being state-funded.
