Functioning return system is a prerequisite for managing migration

Minister of Interior Daniel Mitov has met with his colleagues from Romania - Cătălin Marian Predoiu, Croatia - Davor Bojinovic, and Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, Minister for Migration and Asylum of Greece. It was pointed out that as part of the same region, the countries share similar challenges.

During the meeting, discussing the topic of illegal migration, Mitov emphasized that a basic prerequisite for its sustainable management is a well-functioning return system. More targeted and active campaigns are needed in the countries of origin, to explain the use of only legal routes to the EU, and that all persons arriving illegally will be returned. It is crucial for the EU to find a sustainable solution in this sense, the Bulgarian Interior Minister said.
