Gold for Maria-Magdalena Kireva at the European Weightlifting Championships

Maria-Magdalena Kireva has won a gold medal in the women's 76 kg category at the European Weightlifting Championships in Chisinau. The Bulgarian had a total of 226 kg (106 and 120). She made successful attempts in the snatch with 100, 104 and 106 kg, which brought her the title. In the second movement - the clean and jerk, Kireva remained in ninth position with 120 kg.

Bulgaria already has two championship titles in Moldova after Ivan Dimov triumphed in the 61 kg category and Angel Rusev - in the 55 kg category for men.

Tonight, Bulgaria's star in this sport, 20-year-old Karlos Nasar, is to compete in the 96 kg category. We expect Bulgarian participation also on Sunday and Monday.
