Labour minister convenes round table on demographic crisis

The Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Borislav Gutsanov, is organising a round table on "Demography - trends, problems and solutions" at the National Assembly today. Data on current trends in the country will be presented, together with a study by the Institute of Population and Human Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, which includes proposals for measures to overcome the demographic crisis.

The National Statistical Institute reports negative population growth in all of the country's 28 administrative regions. Bulgaria's population in 2024 fell by 8 121 people, or 0.13 per cent, compared with 2023, the NSI data showed.
