Supporters of the parliamentary represented Vazrazhdane party gathered in front of the National Assembly, declaring their support for preserving the Bulgarian lev and for holding a referendum on the euro, BTA reports. With shouts “Murderers” and “Resignation”, they blocked traffic on Tsar Osvoboditel Blvd.
A few days ago, the party leader Kostadin Kostadinov called for a blockade of the parliament.
The atmosphere of the protest is calm. People were blowing whistles, while the MPs entered the National Assembly for the start of the plenary day, BGNES reports. Employees of the “Security Police” and the gendarmerie are guarding the entrances to the building so that they are not blocked by the protesters.
“Starting today, if this fake convergence report is positive, the BNB ceases to exist. Next is the National Assembly,” Kostadin Kostadinov told the protesters, quoted by BTA. He called on citizens to self-organize and go to protests in support of the lev and with a demand for a referendum.
“After the illegitimate elections, everything else is a lie. Today, the EU committed suicide in front of the Bulgarian people. We want to live freely,” Ivelin Mihaylov, the chairman of the parliamentary group of Velichie party, told the people.
Journalist Dilyana Gaytandzhieva, who according to renowned investigative journalist Hristo Grozev worked for the Russian services, also joined the protesters and said: “It is an honor for me to be among you, as we must show that we are strong and that we are together. We must show that we will fight for our future and protect Bulgaria.”
