Those who are most guilty in the cases of illegal nursing homes for the elderly in Bulgaria, which offer deplorable conditions for their residents, are the relevant institutions. This is shown by the results of a quick independent telephone survey by sociological agency "Myara". 79.4% of those surveyed find fault with the institutions responsible for control, 64.7% blame the owners and management of these homes. 40.9% blame the people who passed the laws on these issues. According to 40.4%, the relatives who left the elderly in such homes are to blame.
To the question "When a person is elderly and needs someone else to take care of them - for nutrition, taking medication and other needs - which of the following is closer to your attitude?" 69.4% say that it is better for a person to stay at home, regardless of the possible difficulties, 22.8% are of the opinion that it is better for a person to receive care in a specialized facility. The rest find it difficult to give an answer.
