An icon of Saints Cyril and Methodius, Equal to the Apostles, is kept in the ethnographic museum of the multicultural Bessarabian village of Vinogradovka, Ukraine, according to the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency. The relic forms part of the museum's permanent exhibition, which is dedicated to the cultural and historical heritage of the local community.
Staff at the museum share the story of the Holy Brothers, recalling how they created the first Slavic alphabet and translated liturgical books, dedicating their lives to the spiritual enlightenment of the Slavic peoples.
This year, the museum marked the celebration of Slavic literacy and culture on 24 May with a themed event for students from the O. O. Banev Lyceum in Vinogradovka. The children were shown the icon of Saints Cyril and Methodius, as well as other exhibits related to their ancestors' history. The event also included a screening of an animated film presenting the biographies of Cyril and Methodius in an accessible way.
Vinogradovka is home to Bulgarians, Gagauz, Moldovans, Ukrainians, and other ethnic groups. Located in the Bolhrad municipality in the Odessa region, the village is part of the historical region of Bessarabia, which is renowned for its ethnic and cultural diversity.
