The European Commission has given a positive assessment of Bulgaria’s amended Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP). According to BNR correspondent in Brussels Angelina Piskova, the document includes a special chapter dedicated to attaining independence from Russian fossil fuels by 2030.
The plan maintains its strong focus on the green transition, with 49% of funds earmarked for climate action. Digital transition is also a key priority, with 20.6% of total expenditure allocated to accelerating digitalisation.
The Council of the EU now has four weeks to formally approve the Commission’s assessment.
The plan is currently worth €6.17 billion in grants and covers 50 reforms and 51 investments. So far, Bulgaria has received €1.37 billion under the mechanism.
