The flaws in the Constitution, admitted by the government of the GERB-SDS and PP-DB coalition with the support of the DPS in 2023, were not removed by the Constitutional Court. That is how President Rumen Radev commented on the fact that yesterday the Constitutional Court failed to gather a majority on the request of the head of state and MPs from "Vazrazhdane", ITN and BSP to declare unconstitutional an amendment, according to which, in the event of possible early elections, an acting prime minister is elected from a list of officials in the state administration.
"The pogrom on the Bulgarian constitution will clearly continue to distort political life and the exercise of power in Bulgaria. We have also seen how the main criterion when choosing important positions for the administration is not so much professionalism, but the search for loyal people who can eventually occupy the position of caretaker prime minister", the president said.
