There are no active fire outbreaks in Pirin. During the night, firefighting teams and forest officials did not allow the fire to enter high into the mountains and affect territories of the Pirin National Park. The weather is cloudy and it has rained, but it is not enough to control the disaster. There is lots of smoke in the area, the regional director of the fire service in Blagoevgrad, Commissioner Valentin Vassilev, told BNR correspondent Keti Trencheva.
Due to the greatly reduced visibility and the expected rain, it is yet to be decided when and whether helicopters and planes will be involved in the fight against the fire during the day.
The evacuation order for the residents of the village of Ploski also remains in force. On Wednesday, people were only allowed to return to their homes for a short time to take care of their animals. The authorities are expected to decide when people will be allowed to return to the village.
