Russia remains the most direct and long-term threat to our security, along with terrorism. This was stated by NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska in Bulgaria at a lecture at the Central Military Club in Sofia organized by the Atlantic Club.
According to her, the goal of NATO countries is to prevent and prepare for defense against this threat. In connection with the strengthening of the defense industry, she pointed out that declarations in themselves do not deter opponents, but real capabilities are needed - firepower, equipment and technologies, BTA reports.
Connectivity between the countries in Southeast Europe is important not only for their economic development, but is also a factor of NATO's collective security in the region, President Rumen Radev emphasized during a meeting with Shekerinska, the press service of the head of state announced.
