On the evening of September 22, the Jewish New Year - Rosh Hashanah, began. According to the Torah calendar, the new 5786th year from the creation of the world has started. Jews believe that on this day God created the first man, Adam. According to Jewish tradition, in the next 10 days until the holiday of Yom Kippur - the Day of Atonement, the Almighty opens the "Book of Life". According to the assessment of a person's deeds from the previous year, God decides which of the people will be recorded in the "Book of Life" for the new year. According to custom, believing Jews will go to the nearest body of water until September 24 to throw pieces of bread, thus symbolically "washing away" their sins. Jews place apples with honey on the festive table with wishes for a good and sweet year.
