A strike at the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) over low pay has been postponed, reported BTA. Following a series of meetings on Tuesday, BNT's management stated that it respects the right to protest but clarified that it must comply with the law. BNT Director General Emil Koshlukov made a commitment to send a letter to the Minister of Finance to arrange a meeting with the strike committee and the BNT management.
On September 19, employees of BNT said they were considering going on strike in order to protest their low pay. ''Unfortunately, in recent years, BNT, like most public broadcasters, is underfunded, and the salaries of our employees are not adequate'', Anton Andonov, a member of the public television's Management Board, told BTA.
On May 15, employees of BTA, BNT and BNR held a protest demanding a 15% pay rise.
