Seven unaccompanied refugee children from Syria, settled in the Ovcha Kupel district in Sofia, stand before the lens of Mihaela Vacheva for the photography exhibition “What I Keep”, BTA reports. The event opens today at the capital’s Port A Gallery.
“Through the photographs, they assert their voice, strength and dignity in a world that often presents displaced children only as victims. The project aims to empower them by providing them with tools for self-expression and self-reflection, to help overcome isolation and stigma, to promote diversity and to uphold human rights and the inclusion of vulnerable groups,” the organizers say.
The exhibition is held within the framework of the "Photo Workshop 66" project and is implemented by Multi Kulti Collective in partnership with the International Organization for Migration, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, New Bulgarian University, the Bulgarian Red Cross, Photosynthesis and with the assistance of the State Agency for Refugees.
