The populations of the Eastern imperial eagle and the black vulture, Griffon vulture and Egyptian vulture in the Vrachanski Balkan, Sinite Kamani and Bulgarka nature parks will be supported through projects under the 2021–2027 Environment Program, the Ministry of Environment and Waters announced. The birds will receive safe food to ensure the sustainability of the populations.
Providing food is vital for the conservation of vultures, as raising animals in farms and destroying their carcasses in plants deprives scavengers of a natural food resource. In addition, the project activities support the survival and reproduction of these species in nature, reducing the risks of poisoning, the ministry said.
The total value of the projects financed under the Environment Program 2021–2027 amounts to BGN 860 thousand.
