Strong earthquake in western Turkey felt in southern Bulgaria

An earthquake with a 6.1 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Western Turkey at 22.48 hours last night. There were over 40 aftershocks after the earthquake. The epicenter was near the city of Sundargah in the Balıkesir province. In addition to Sundargah, the earthquake shook the cities of Istanbul, Bursa, Izmir and Tekirdag.
The earthquake was also felt in southern Bulgaria. The epicenter is 320 km from Svilengrad, 360 km from Burgas.
The National Seismological Center of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences reported that the earthquake was felt in Haskovo, Dimitrovgrad, Burgas, Plovdiv.
At least 19 people were injured in Turkey, local media reported. Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reported that 3 two-story buildings and one store were destroyed. The buildings were uninhabited. There are no reports of fatalities, but panic has kept people out of their homes for a long time.
