Bulgarian President Rumen Radev has presented the national flag to the participants in the 34th Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition. At a ceremony in the Hall of Arms, the flag was accepted by the head and doyen of Bulgarian research in the White Continent, Prof. Hristo Pimpirev.
“He who holds the key to the secrets of the White Continent also holds our future,” said Radev. “One of the most significant contributions of Antarctic researchers is the fact that over the years they have managed to build a model of a successful future for the planet — a future not of wars and mutual destruction, but of understanding, friendship, solidarity and mutual assistance,” added the president.

For the fourth consecutive year, the Bulgarian expedition will sail to the Ice Continent with the Bulgarian research ship “St. St. Cyril and Methodius.” The first group of Bulgarian scientists left on November 10 for the St. Kliment Ohridski Antarctic base on Livingston Island.
