Following a series of fires in the Burgas area last summer, including one that destroyed homes in a local villa district, the Burgas municipality has acquired high-tech drones equipped with thermal cameras, night vision, and 3D imaging.
The two drones, obtained through a European programme, were tested at the Burgas Aviation Museum today. One will be assigned to the Fire Safety Directorate to help accurately locate fire outbreaks and assess the risk of their spread. The drone has a flight time of 40 minutes and automatically returns to its charging station once its mission is complete. This station can be set up directly on site.
The second drone will remain with the municipality for general monitoring and the preventive assessment of high-risk areas.
