'The dialogue between employers and trade unions has been restored. Consultations will begin tomorrow at the Ministry of Finance to iron out all the details. The state is committed to supporting every Bulgarian citizen.' This was written by GERB leader Boyko Borisov on Facebook after the government withdrew the state budget for next year today in order to revise it.
He announced that this decision had been made following a meeting at the party headquarters with ministers and representatives from the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria (KRIB), the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce, the Podkrepa trade union, and the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB/KNSB).
The working groups and the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation will also be reinstated. Representatives of the four parties supporting the government will participate in discussions of the 2026 budget.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov announced that the ruling party intends to re-establish dialogue with trade unions and employers, with the aim of agreeing budgetary parameters that will be satisfactory to much of the business community and wider society.
