Bulgaria, Greece, and Cyprus have jointly submitted a proposal for the supply of drones under the Security Action for Europe Programme. The focus is on the development and delivery of small first-class drones produced according to NATO standards. Bulgaria is interested in the anti-drone systems “Centaur” and “Hyperion”, which have already been developed by Greece and successfully tested for ship protection in the Red Sea.
Mass production of these systems is planned for the Greek army. According to Greek media, Bulgaria and Cyprus also want to acquire them. There is also interest in maritime drones, which Ukraine and Greece will produce in Athens. Funding is expected to be provided through low-interest EU loans, reports BNR’s correspondent in Greece, Katya Peeva.
