Bulgaria is very carefully monitoring the observance of the rights of Bulgarian communities not only in Serbia, but also in all countries of the Western Balkans, Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev said in parliament.
The minister's statement comes a day after the marking of the tragic anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Neuilly, under which the Western Outlands were occupied by Serbia.
A little more than 100 years ago, nearly
100,000
Bulgarians lived there, while today they have decreased to several
thousand as a result of Belgrade's policy, BGNES writes.
Over
the past few years, leading Serbian statesmen and politicians,
including President Aleksandar Vučić, have repeatedly made
offensive statements against Bulgaria and
an
organized campaign of hate speech is being waged against Bulgarians in Serbia,
the agency also writes.
