President Rumen Radev announced the launch of the 23rd annual Bulgarian Christmas charity initiative. He officially kicked off the campaign at the country’s oldest paediatric clinic, founded in 1900 and located within Sofia’s Alexandrovska Hospital. This year, the initiative is supporting children with severe chronic illnesses and disabilities.

The head of state highlighted that funds from the previous campaign had helped 550 children in need of treatment and rehabilitation, according to BNR correspondent Elena Beykova. In his speech, the President addressed health authorities, asking: “With a health budget of over BGN 10 billion, why must these 550 children rely on the Bulgarian Christmas campaign for life-saving medication and care? And why, and for how long, will they remain outside the scope and reach of the state?”
