Solar power capacity in Bulgaria for electricity production will exceed 4 GW in 2025. This is equal to 4 large nuclear reactors, Dr. Maria Trifonova, a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics of Sofia University, told BGNES. She emphasized that the spread of solar power has jumped a lot, especially after the energy crisis.
The first wave of investors was from big businesses due to the expensive prices of electricity. The second group of investors are large commercial projects for solar parks and batteries, oriented towards sales on the market.
“Solar energy allows citizens to be actively involved in this energy transition with their own investments. We did not do this in Bulgaria, which is one of the reasons for lower social acceptance of this type of technology and protests against solar parks", says Dr. Maria Trifonova.
