Government withdraws draft budget for 2026 after protests

The Council of Ministers has proposed to the parliament to vote on the withdrawal of the Draft Bill on the State Budget for 2026, the government press service announced. The decision also withdrew the draft bills on the budgets of the National Health Insurance Fund and the state social security.

The cabinet is ready to start a new budget procedure. The withdrawal of the budget comes after protests in Sofia and across the country organized by opposition coalition "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria". In the late hours of the protest on December 1 unrest broke out in the capital city.
