"If the government does not resign this week, we will submit a vote of no confidence and together with all the citizens of the protests and all other people who support us, we will collectively demand the resignation of this government." This was what PP leader Asen Vassilev said at a briefing after the largest protests in Bulgaria in years, which took place in Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv, Burgas and other cities against the budget and corruption.
"We saw that the government heard the protest and withdrew the budget. It is already too late. We heard the people of the protest - they want the resignation of this government, as well as Borisov and Peevski leaving politics, and we fully support them. Our message to Borisov and Peevski is: resign, because you no longer have the moral right to govern the country," Vassilev said.
Regarding the unrest that ended the protest action in Sofia last night, Chief Commissioner Lyubomir Nikolov, Director of the Sofia Directorate of Internal Affairs, reported at a briefing today that the protest passed peacefully and calmly. The escalation at the end of the protest happened because of people who were organized in advance. 71 citizens were detained, including minors, who participated in vandalism.
