The cooperation between the Bulgarian judicial authorities and the European Public Prosecutor’s Office was discussed by Minister of Justice Georgi Georgiev and European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kövesi. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Justice during Kövesi’s visit to Bulgaria on the occasion of the opening of the EPPO office in Sofia.

Georgiev informed Kövesi about the procedure launched for selecting a new European prosecutor from Bulgaria, which is still at the stage of candidates submitting documents.

After the official ceremony opening the EPPO office, Minister Georgiev stated that regarding the disciplinary proceedings against the first Bulgarian European prosecutor, Teodora Georgieva, information may only be provided by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office and only when there is something to announce.

Kövesi herself told the media that she would not be giving interviews.
