Burgas celebrates city’s patron saint’s day Nikulden with diverse programme

Burgas is marking its patron saint’s day Nikulden, St. Nicholas Day, 6 December, with a diverse programme in different parts of the city. The festivities will be taking place under the motto: Everyone is celebrating Burgas.

Swimming together with cold-water swimming record holder Tsanko Tsankov near the Bridge is scheduled for the morning. At 9 AM Olympic medalist gymnast Yordan Yovchev will hold a training session at the outdoor gym on the central beach.

The Nikulden ritual table will be blessed at 11 AM in the park near the Clock, after which Nikulden concerts will take place in several different locations, and the traditional Nikulden fish soup will be handed out. Retro diving demonstrations will take place at 11 AM near the bridge in Primorski Park, with authentic diving costumes from the 1960s.

The traditional religious procession to honour the memory of the sailors and fishermen who have lost their lives at sea will start from Atanas Sirekov Square at 11.15 AM and will reach the Bridge.
