Valencia players wore T-shirts with inscription “Lubo, Lubo” in
support of Lyuboslav Penev, who is fighting cancer.
The players
expressed their sympathy for the former top scorer, who played 199
games with the Spanish club, before the first referee’s signal of
the match against Sevilla in the 16th round of La Liga. The fans
joined in with choreography in honour of the Bulgarian, chanting his
name.
The Spanish teams of
Atlético Madrid, Valencia, Celta Vigo and Compostela, in which
Lyuboslav Penev played, have taken on the task of collecting 300,000
euros for the costly surgical procedure needed by the former Bulgarian national
team player, ABC wrote, quoted by BTA.
