“We Continue the Change”: This budget is in many ways worse than the previous

“The government is making a second clumsy attempt for a state budget. They are trying to lie to us again and blind us by postponing two of the most scandalous measures for 2027 – the increase in pension insurance contribution and the dividend tax, but in return they have created new scandals.” This is stated in the position of “We Continue the Change” (PP) before today’s meeting of the Council for Tripartite Cooperation, which is to consider the budget for next year. The budget was previously withdrawn by the government after causing a wave of civil discontent among thousands, BGNES reports.

The revised version of Budget 2026 does not include more money for young doctors and nurses. On the other hand, salaries in the Supreme Judicial Council continue to rise – from 12,271 euros per month to 15,338. In the courts and the prosecutor's office, the increase is by nearly 14%, compared to 10% for the other administration, the PP points out.

According to the party, the deficit in the new version is about 4.5%, not 3%. “This budget is for the trash bin and in many ways it is much worse than the previous budget,” the PP declares and calls on the government to resign before Wednesday, when an anti-government protest is scheduled.
