Greek farmers have again blocked truck traffic at the border with Bulgaria at the Promachon–Kulata and Exohi–Ilinden crossings.
The blockade resumed at midday in both directions and is expected to continue for an indefinite period. So far, it is affecting only heavy goods vehicles. Tensions are rising on both sides of the border as trucks are left waiting with no indication of when the crossing will reopen. According to BNR's correspondent Keti Trencheva, many drivers are expected to miss ferries at Thessaloniki port. Bulgarian truck drivers are calling on their government to notify European institutions immediately about the closure of the international border.
Meanwhile, checks by the authorities in both Bulgaria and Greece have resumed in the border area. Random checks of transport documents are being carried out, as well as risk-based checks directly at the crossing points.
