Bulgaria’s parliament will vote on a no-confidence motion against the cabinet of Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov tomorrow at 13:30, following four hours of debate today, Speaker Raya Nazaryan said.

The motion was tabled by the “We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria” (PP-DB) coalition and supported by the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms (APS) and MECH, citing failures in economic policy.

Bogdan Bogdanov (PP-DB) stated that longstanding companies in various regions had gone bankrupt in recent months and that foreign investment had fallen by 11%.

However, Pavela Mitova of 'There Is Such a People' party which is part of the governing coalition — argued that Bulgaria ranked fifth in EU GDP growth and had the highest wage increases in the union at 13.4%. She added that the country's public debt was low at 24% of GDP compared to the EU average of 82%. She also stated that foreign investment in the country was rising, not falling.
