Plovdiv's Old Town marks craft guild holiday

On December 12, Plovdiv will celebrate the craft guild holiday with a procession in the Old Town and a ritual for initiation into a master's title. The organizers of the events on the occasion of the Day of St. Spyridon - the patron saint of craftsmen, are the Regional Ethnographic Museum - Plovdiv and the Regional Chamber of Crafts.

The celebration starts at 10 a.m. from the courtyard of REM - Plovdiv. At 10:30 a.m. a procession will depart from there to the "St. Virgin Mary" Cathedral, where a solemn liturgy will be held. This year, six members of the Regional Chamber of Crafts with significant merits in the field of leatherworking, cutlery, artistic leather processing and jewelry making will be initiated into the master's title.
